Empowering Tea Plantation Workers in India
Last week, we launched our co-developed Grievance & Dialogue in Agriculture program in Assam, India, in partnership with Rainforest Alliance—an important region for tea production.

India is the second largest tea producer in the world. In the northeastern state of Assam alone, 900,000 permanent workers—about half of them women—fuel the tea industry.
Despite their numbers, women workers here face a host of challenges to their human rights, making it urgent that tools, such as effective and safe grievance mechanisms, are available to them on tea estates.
To help bridge this gap, training is offered in local languages—ensuring more workers and managers can meaningfully engage with and benefit from the program. By equipping workers and managers with knowledge and tools to learn about their labor rights, we’re supporting more resilient, rights-respecting supply chains.
About the Project
Quizrr partnered with the international non-profit Rainforest Alliance to develop and pilot training modules for farmers and workers on Rainforest Alliance-certified tea farms in India and coffee farms in Mexico. These modules aim to address human rights risks in alignment with the OECD-FAO Guidance for Responsible Agricultural Supply Chains, promoting more ethical practices in the agricultural sector.
This project was possible thanks to a grant from the ISEAL Innovations Fund, which is supported by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
