About the Program

The Social Dialogue and Labor Relations digital training program will contextualize the updated labor law in Mexico into relatable and concrete learnings for workers and managers. We hope you and your manufacturing sites in Mexico will participate in this opportunity to proactively learn and understand provisions covering key topics such as anti-union discrimination, and non-interference, validation of collective labour agreements and the election of worker representatives. 

The program has been developed in a collaboration between VF Corporation, the LEGO Group and Quizrr.

Background on the new Mexican Labor Laws

 As part of the United States-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement (USMCA), Mexico enacted a labor reform bill that substantially overhauled the country’s labor law. Among the main amendments, the Government has introduced new processes that: 

  • Establishes guidelines to elect union leaders through the free and secret vote of union members. 
  • Recognizes the right of workers to engage in collective bargaining and to organize, form, and join the union of their choice. 
  • Prohibits employer interference in union activities, discrimination, or coercion against workers for organizing activity. 
  • Election and voting of worker representatives 
  • The law also contains provisions that aim to increase employee awareness of their new rights. 
  • Establishes measures to protect workers against employment discrimination

The relatable and interactive training, with live-action dramas and animations based on local culture and settings paired with quiz questions, effectively captures the interest of worker while conveying a sense of reality. Trainings can be conducted individually on smartphones or in small groups (up to five people) on tablets.
