Background of the Event
Sustainability of supply chains is getting increasing attention from both policy makers, companies, and consumers across the world. Particularly, recent years have seen a significant global upsurge in human rights due diligence requirements on companies and their supply chains.
Last year, the European Commission adopted a proposal for a Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, which aims to forster sustainable and responsible corporate behavior throughout global value chains, to benefit workers, consumers, the environment and the climate.
Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) involves implementing procedures to mitigate a company's risk of negatively impacting human rights and working conditions. HRDD's significance has surged, with many countries introducing regulations to ensure companies respect human rights.
In an effort to underscore HRDD's importance in the corporate realm and enhance awareness, the Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at the Embassy of Sweden in Beijing and Quizrr plan to co-host this conference.
