Webinar: Gender and Access to information among RMG workers in Bangladesh
March 01, 2021
Quizrr co-founder Sofie Nordström will be speaking at Ethical Trading Initiatives free webinar on - Gender and Access to information among RMG workers in Bangladesh - this Thursday!
About the webinar
In the context of our overall objective to increase and empower workers’ voice and to bring key stakeholders and influencers together, we need to increasingly find new ways to communicate and reach our clients. The current pandemic has made this clearer than ever before. In line with our gender aware approach and with the aim to further empower female workers, ETI Bangladesh therefore initiated a rapid assessment in 40 RMG factories in the Dhaka-area in February 2021 looking at access to information among workers from a gender perspective. The key driver has been to understand the key barriers to access information among female RMG workers with a specific attention to usage of (smart) mobile phones and internet. Having a better understanding of this context will in turn help us design awareness raising and communication campaigns reaching both men and women equally and form future partnerships and stakeholder relationships required to improve information exchange throughout the supply-chain.
As part of this initiative and in relation to the International Women’s Day, ETI Bangladesh is organising a webinar on March 4th presenting its findings from the recent assessment. Together with invited guest speakers from the Government of Bangladesh, Bangladesh mobile operators and other communication service providers, and RMG suppliers, we aim to have an interesting and informed discussion on how we can best reach RMG workers while ensuring equal access to information.
